| At the Tokyo motorshow last October, Mercedes unveiled their Hygenius hybrid-electric fuel cell vehicle, and now the prototype has made its way to the UK for demonstration purposes. | |
| Visually, the new car is similar in style to the A and B class Mercedes, but in place of the petrol engines it has a new fuel cell stack though this isn't expected to go into volume manufacture until early in the next decade. Importantly, the cell is said to be considerably smaller and more efficient than existing devices, and as a result can be fitted under the car's bonnet. | | | The Range of the vehicle will be around 250 miles (which seems to be the benchmark that manufacturers are aiming at with this type of vehicle) and 0-60 should be less than 12 seconds. | |
