New Mini

A new Mini Cooper S will be seen by the public for the first time at the Paris Motor show in September 2006.
The new car features numerous styling changes, but perhaps more significantly the Supercharged engine of the S is replaced by a new 1.6 litre Turbocharged unit. The new Turbo engine willl produce 175bhp which will be sufficient to propel the new S from 0-60 in around 7 seconds, and in addition, fuel economy is said to be considerably better than the old model.
The new car also features revised suspension components which are said to ehnance the ride and handling.
The size of the new car is almost exactly the same as the old one, and despite the styling changes, non-enthusiasts probably won't really notice the difference. But keen Mini fans will welcome the new look with its enhanced performance and even better handling.

Vauxhall Monaro may be back

We'd only just got used the sad loss of the Monaro from the Vauxhall range after it had been with us for such a short period of time. Then just after it's left, we hear it could be back again in a new, improved form.

Toyota Corolla badge to go

A few years ago Toyota dropped the thirsty Supra, the Celica and MR2 range are to be dropped this year, and now we hear that its the end of the road for the Toyota Corolla.
Frankly we're amazed at the changes at Toyota, and you would easily be forgiven that the company is facing hard times, when in fact it's going from strength to strength. There have been 3 versions of the company's fantastic mid engined MR2, and seven generations of the popular Celica but Toyota is changing its image, and moving on.

VW Golf 1.4 TSI

Toyota Avensis 2006

Toyota's Avensis was all new in 2003, and that was pretty obvious. The 2003 model was completely different to the one that preceded it. This time round, most people, including Toyota enthusiasts, are struggling to tell the difference between the 2006 model, and the 2003 model that it replaces.

Vauxhall Astra TwinTop

Vauxhall have beaten Ford to the race to release a convertible coupe version of their mainstream model, and have got it into the showrooms in time for summer; a great move we think.

What do you look for in a car?

Despite the wealth of new and old media telling us what we should and shouldn't buy, the purchase of a new, or second hand car, is a very personal thing. What you want from a car probably isn't what I want from one, so how can any advice help you?
